So how do you pick a filter out of 20,000 choices?

It's hard to tell what a whole house filter is actuall doing sometimes because the only things we notice are color, smell, and taste (which are the easiest to remove). The vast majority of toxins go undected, which is why I end up calling manufacturers and asking them for the data. When I found Pure Way pop up with the test results they had, I was HYPER skeptical. Especially since they were letting minerals through, which is hard to scale for large volumes, and had built in softening (preventing limescale) in an all in one unit.
